August RAW Proton Mix
2nd month of RAW and I’m feeling good about the direction I’ve chosen for this show. The mixes got picked up by Alldj.org and a few other sites and I had some people around the world hit me up on myspace with compliments and comments. DJ Qualia is my guest this month and I’m very impressed with his set. He’s a talented DJ and producer and also makes a killer application for laptop (Serator, Torq, etc..) djs , http://www.mixshare.com/software.html. Its just like Mixed in Key but WAY better.
My mix goes from downtempo funk to some minimal, almost atmospheric, tech house and then into prog and techno. Check out Lance Cashion’s newest track on Proton Limited. Word is, Digweed has been dropping this in his sets lately.

New July Mix for Download from my New Proton Show - RAW
Lance and I have decided to put the “The Sound” to bed. Lance has been busy building his business and family and I decided it was best if I established my own show so I could explore some new ideas and types of music.
I’m calling the show “RAW” and its every 3rd Monday @ 10-12 AM EST. The show is going to be a mix of any and all genres and moving through various tempos. I’ve done the progressive, tech house sound for a long time and I want to show people some of the other great music that gets my juices flowing. Its time to break out and do something fresh.

Great birthday, thanks so much
Big thanks to everyone who came out on Friday. It was one of the best events I’ve ever done and people truly seemed to enjoy themselves. Chris loves to come to Austin and I think this time was especially fun for him. When I dropped him off at the airport, he said he would definitely come back next year to make it an annual party. Sounds like a plan to me.

I recently watched the documentary MOOG and was intensely inspired by it. Check the intro on the first track for some samples from it. Robert Moog is a modern day genius and deserves some serious credit for pushing his ideas into the world. Check it out if you have a chance.

April 2008 - The Sound with Jesse Brede
Funny story on this mix, I was mowing my lawn and broke a porcelain statue I had in front of my house. As I was throwing this piece of sh*t in the trash, it slipped out of my hand and cut my hand. It was pretty deep and at the base of my palm where my middle finger and ring finger met so I went to the hospital and got 5 stitches. The nurse wrapped my hand with about a mile and a half of guaze so I basically couldn’t use my left hand at all. I had planned to record my mix that night and when I got home, I downloaded 30 new tracks and recorded this mix using only one hand. If that ain’t rockstar, then I don’t know what is. Tommy Lee ain’t got nothing on me, b*tches. Sorry for all the profanity.
A few notes on the mix, its starts off with some classic deep house moves into some tech house then techno and progressive. After a couple of heaters, I drop back down into some tech house and finish it off with a round of breaks and electro buzzness. If you like it, leave me a comment and let me know.
Jack Schaedler was my guest this month. He and I got to open for Adam Freeland on April 17th at SKY and I have to give him some props for throwing down. He played Asher’s track in progress and played Francis Preve’s newest unreleased track and they both sounded great on the big system. Check out Jack and Asher every Wednesday at Light Bar.
March 2008 The Sound w Jesse Brede
Here’s my latest mix for “The Sound” on Proton. I had to pleasure to feature 4 Texas producers on this mix and they are all quality tunes. A quick recap: The mix starts off with 5 tracks of dance rock, two Alex Metric tracks off his new EP In the Machine and a nice Lance Cashion re-edit of LCD Soundsystem’s “Got to Get Away” which I played at the Austin Electronic Music Festival and did amazing. After that, I move into some tech house and prog and cap it off with an electro chunker by DeLuna from Del Rio. Towards the end of the mix, I drop Tritonal’s newest track “What I Say” which features vocal’s by my good friend Cristina Soto. This is one hell of a track that would likely get filed in the Trance section but to me its funky, progressive, electro and trance all in one. Tritonal is Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed who are both names to watch in the trance scene and have recently had tracks featured on Above and Beyond’s weekly internet radio show “Trance Around the World”. Last but not least, I end the mix with a track by Tarek from Licksamba. I love the live guitar in this track and Tarek really establishes a groove and brings it home.

Off to Chihuahua to play at 46 Bar & Lounge
Marcos Barrera has asked me to come play at the 46 Bar & Lounge in Chihuahua, Mexico this Friday, Feb 1st. Lance Cashion has played there several times and has had a blast every time. I’m super excited to meet these guys and hopefully rock the house for them. Expect pictures and a recorded set in the coming weeks.
