New track from Pretty Lights, it has certainly been a minute (or at least it felt like it has!). Maybe it’s my blatant PLM fanboyism showing, but I loved this track, felt like it was a great return to a more classic PL sound after “I Know The Truth”. Deadmau5 is officially one of the biggest producer / live acts on the planet and I’m pretty sure his bank account is starting to look pretty sweet. He’s buying lots of fancy modular synths and other outboard gear that will make any electronic music nerd drool. Take a look at these pics if you don’t believe me.

The documentary-film project 8 Billion Lives turns its lens on Diplo [a] for its new installment. The Swedish filmmaker Wing-Yee captures a day in the DJ’s life in the 10-minute short, putting an unusual spin on the typical tour doc. Shot in black and white, it’s an intentionally understated snapshot of the DJ in action, focusing less on the limelight than on the downtime—the hotel, the taxi, the airport. Diplo’s own voiceover gives the narration a low-key, conversational style; it’s hard to imagine a more candid portrait of an artist who’s better known for Mad Decent’s madcap antics.
