This is gonna be one hell of a party. To my knowledge Porter hasn’t played Austin since I’ve lived here. Join us for another night of tasty beats. There are no presales for this. Tickets at the door only.

Chris played a heater of a set on my birthday. I recorded the entire night and he gave me permission to let people listen to it. No tracklisting available. I’ll be posting Jack Schaedler, Toddy B and my set as well.

Lance and I have decided to put the “The Sound” to bed. Lance has been busy building his business and family and I decided it was best if I established my own show so I could explore some new ideas and types of music.
I’m calling the show “RAW” and its every 3rd Monday @ 10-12 AM EST. The show is going to be a mix of any and all genres and moving through various tempos. I’ve done the progressive, tech house sound for a long time and I want to show people some of the other great music that gets my juices flowing. Its time to break out and do something fresh.
Rather than talk about it, take a listen:

I’d love to hear your comments.
Big thanks to everyone who came out on Friday. It was one of the best events I’ve ever done and people truly seemed to enjoy themselves. Chris loves to come to Austin and I think this time was especially fun for him. When I dropped him off at the airport, he said he would definitely come back next year to make it an annual party. Sounds like a plan to me.
David Barnes from the Austin American Statesman did a little write up on the show. Click here to read about it.
I’ll post some pictures I have in the next few days.
Thanks again.

Funny story on this mix, I was mowing my lawn and broke a porcelain statue I had in front of my house. As I was throwing this piece of sh*t in the trash, it slipped out of my hand and cut my hand. It was pretty deep and at the base of my palm where my middle finger and ring finger met so I went to the hospital and got 5 stitches. The nurse wrapped my hand with about a mile and a half of guaze so I basically couldn’t use my left hand at all. I had planned to record my mix that night and when I got home, I downloaded 30 new tracks and recorded this mix using only one hand. If that ain’t rockstar, then I don’t know what is. Tommy Lee ain’t got nothing on me, b*tches. Sorry for all the profanity.
A few notes on the mix, its starts off with some classic deep house moves into some tech house then techno and progressive. After a couple of heaters, I drop back down into some tech house and finish it off with a round of breaks and electro buzzness. If you like it, leave me a comment and let me know.
Jack Schaedler was my guest this month. He and I got to open for Adam Freeland on April 17th at SKY and I have to give him some props for throwing down. He played Asher’s track in progress and played Francis Preve’s newest unreleased track and they both sounded great on the big system. Check out Jack and Asher every Wednesday at Light Bar.
I was lucky enough to see the Ghostland show at Austin Music Hall for the CD Release party of Robotique Mystique. I found a youtube video of it and thought I would share. It was a great show, completely sold out, packed to the walls and the crowd couldn’t get enough.
I had the pleasure of playing the SXSW Interactive party for Gametap at Parkside on March 8th, 2008. Everyone was super friendly and fun and overall the night was a blast. Parkside had some great hors d’oeuvres (otherwise known as snacks) and the staff was very helpful nd cool, especially Sean. Big thanks to everyone that night, I hope you had as much fun as I did.
Here’s the almost 4 hour mix from the night which includes everything from dub, reggae, hip hop, indie rock, house, electro, dance rock, Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Hot Chip and everything in between. This is not my normal type of gig which is to say I normally play underground electronic dance music and don’t cross as many styles, genres or bpms/speeds. The mix isn’t the most technical but its very listenable with a ton of great tunes. I might add the tracklist inglater if I can find the time.
Enjoy and feedback is always welcome.
I’m all about this man. I believe he will be the next president of the United States. Texas early voting started on Tuesday and lasts until the 29th. March 4th is the primary, let’s do this Texas. Click here to find your early vote location.

Watch Barrack’s Wisconsin Victory Speech:
Ghostland Observatory has posted one of their new tracks, Dancing on My Grave (click to download the Let There Be Vinyl Remix), from their upcoming album Robotique Majestiqe on their myspace page. They played this thumper at their Ghostland at the Opera show at UT’s Hogg Auditorium towards the end of their set and it stuck in my head.
They are scheduled to play the Austin Music Hall on Feb. 29th and have sold the show out with a month to go. While the price of admission is a bit high ($32 before fees), you do get a copy of their new album. I’m sure it will be a killer show and I’m truly happy for all their success. They’ve got a great sound and their live show with the lasers and all is pretty intense.
Quick back story, the company I work for, Roxwel.com, hosted a SXSW party in 2005 on the roof of Light Bar. This was just before Paparazzi Lightning really started taking off and I ran the setup of the show and the mixing board for them. I’ve also worked with them at one of the Texas Rollergirls roller derbies. Both Aaron and Thomas are very professional and take their shows very seriously. Aaron, the singer, is super nice and definitely has amazing charisma. Thomas is more of a mad scientist and doesn’t come off as friendly, but from what I can tell he’s really just very focused and concerned with the sound and visuals of the show regardless of the circumstances. Thomas also used to be a rave promoter back in the late nineties and I actually attended some of his raves. I’m sure that’s where their love of lasers come from.
On that note, here’s Ghostland’s set from ACL this year, hope you enjoy it as much as I did and remember to support the artist by buying their ablums.
