6 years since the Delta Heavy tour, Sasha and Digweed return to the US for a rock star style tour of the US. The tour starts at the WMC and ends at Coachella and hits total of 21 cities in just one month. They are skipping Texas and most of the midwest entirely even though they played Austin, Dallas, and Houston on their last tour.
To be honest, I’m not fired up about seeing these guys in a 9PM - 2AM format. For me, the focus of these events was the building of the music in a dark club that lasted until the early morning. I’m attending Coachella so expect a report on their set in April.

Thanks to Covert Curiosity and Jamie Moore for the links.
Ghostland Observatory has posted one of their new tracks, Dancing on My Grave (click to download the Let There Be Vinyl Remix), from their upcoming album Robotique Majestiqe on their myspace page. They played this thumper at their Ghostland at the Opera show at UT’s Hogg Auditorium towards the end of their set and it stuck in my head.
They are scheduled to play the Austin Music Hall on Feb. 29th and have sold the show out with a month to go. While the price of admission is a bit high ($32 before fees), you do get a copy of their new album. I’m sure it will be a killer show and I’m truly happy for all their success. They’ve got a great sound and their live show with the lasers and all is pretty intense.
Quick back story, the company I work for, Roxwel.com, hosted a SXSW party in 2005 on the roof of Light Bar. This was just before Paparazzi Lightning really started taking off and I ran the setup of the show and the mixing board for them. I’ve also worked with them at one of the Texas Rollergirls roller derbies. Both Aaron and Thomas are very professional and take their shows very seriously. Aaron, the singer, is super nice and definitely has amazing charisma. Thomas is more of a mad scientist and doesn’t come off as friendly, but from what I can tell he’s really just very focused and concerned with the sound and visuals of the show regardless of the circumstances. Thomas also used to be a rave promoter back in the late nineties and I actually attended some of his raves. I’m sure that’s where their love of lasers come from.
On that note, here’s Ghostland’s set from ACL this year, hope you enjoy it as much as I did and remember to support the artist by buying their ablums.

For those of you who know me, you likely know that I work at an awesome company, Blastro, Inc. We run 3 online music video websites, Blastro, Roxwel and Yallwire, and if you didn’t know, well now you do. Blastro was started by Rob Campanell in the late 90’s during the rave days. The original idea was to do internet TV. They had nightly shows where local DJs came to their studio and mixed live sets while the Blastro guys did live video mixing over a blue screen. What’s cool is that I played on their shows a few times before I really knew any of them. For the time, this was some seriously advanced technical stuff they were doing. I met Casey Charvet, a good friend of mine, through Texture nightclub which was run by Tarek Morshed in 2000. Casey was running visuals and lights and I was the sound guy. I really liked what Casey was doing with his visuals and decided I wanted to do it as well. Alex Thurlow, my long time roommate, friend and member of the SemiAudiks, and I bought some gear and basically started ripping DVDs and learning Flash, Adobe After Effects and Premier. We came up with some pretty decent stuff but it never really compared to Casey’s work. At the time, I was working for SKYLIST and wasn’t handling the job too well, Casey asked me to work for Blastro and the rest is history.
I now present to you, my top 5 hottest Dance Music Videos (courtesy of Blastro.com):
That’s all for now. Hope you enjoyed.
